Captured Sudanese Sniper
Uploaded April 19th, 2011
English translation below:
Translation of Sudanese sniper:
These are captured Gaddafi's forces, from Sudan. They were bought out with weapons, and money, to kill their brothers from Libya, in the mountains, until they arrived in Zintan.
Ismail Haroun, Sudanese:
“I was, on March 22, 2011, brought on by Gaddafi's forces, in Tripoli, army base 77. On the 11th of April, 2011, they sent us to the area of Al Qalaa. They told us that we were going to ... (he stopped) ( starting again)…. my advice is that, I am being interrogating in front of witnesses, by good people, being treated well. These are civilians, who are protecting their land. Even, to those Libyans carrying weapons, should not fight their brothers, we are here for the love of our prophet. Think a little.”
Reporter: “Are you feeling regretful?”
Ismail : “Yes, I am.”
Reporter: “What would (make) you do this? To leave your wife, children, etc.?”
Ismail : “I am making 50-60 dinars a day. They were paying me 1000 dinars a month, but I didn't receive anything. Now, I found people feeding me. I was lied to.”
Reporter: “What is your advice to your Sudanese brothers, to all Sudanese and Arabs?”
Ismail : “What is happening in Libya, there is no Al Qaeda, there are no mercenaries, no Algerians. These are Libyans defending their country, their families.”
Reporter: ”Did you experience any rapes?”
Ismail : “No”
Reporter: “Have you heard about them?”
Ismail : “Yes, maybe.”
Reporter: “We hope these youths return to their homes safely.”
Reporter: “ General Ibrahim is the one who provided weapons to you?”
Ismail : “We heard about a higher ranked leader but we didn't see him.”
