“As long as one dissident is in prison, our freedom will not be true. As long as one child is hungry, our life will be filled with anguish and shame. What these victims need above all is to know that they are not alone; that we are not forgetting them, that when their voices are stifled we shall lend them ours, that while their freedom depends on ours, the quality of our freedom depends on theirs.”

An early Gaddafi victim: Dr Amr Al- Nami: Scholar, poet & Cambridge graduate
The following three verses are a near translation from a touching poem in Arabic, written by the martyr in his prison cell back in 1974 and addressed to his mother..
Mother… don’t you worry now… don’t show them you’re sad!
How about a smile now… I hate to see you weak…I hate to see you feeling bad!
Mother don’t show them they’re winning… Mother don’t show them you’re aching
You see, we have towered high above the tyrants. Mother, we’re men but they’re not!

UNTITLED – POETRY OF THE REVOLUTION
Libyans are now facing Gaddafi with much anger
For all the years we have been feeling like strangers
Under a regime full of corruption and danger
More like a MAFIA cause if you talk they hang ya
Now how can I thank ya?
Except by the fire that you like
You’re a liar in my sight
Your TV is full of lies
When they see me they say I’m a rat they despise
Why? Only cause they have seen truth in my eyes?
We’re not surprised having learnt your tricks
From the back of our minds you’re a sick
ill with a decease called over pride
You’re nothing to me, absolutely nothing to my kind
Cause we like to live free, you don’t know how we feel inside
My mind state is now revolutionary, we have no choice but to ride.

UNTITLED – ANONYMOUS REVOLUTIONARY POET
Rivers of oil flowing away as we’re watching in silence
Once we try to speak the streets become full of sirens
Man, are we tired? after 42 years of oppression and gun fire
Politicial prisoners described as lost dogs and liars
We have to speak for the freedom we continue to seek
We have to pick up the gun and fight for the weak
Fight for the stolen, raped and killed on the streets
Fight for the truth, bullets carry words spoken by the youth
Telling the world we’re free even though we weren’t equiped to shoot
Rather be dead but free instead of alive but kicked by their boots
You dont need to explain to me their anti-aircrafts have explained enough
Before that we were taught by their glocks and handcuffs
Whenever you try to speak they go to show that they’re taugh
But now we’ve had enough!
It’s retaliation whenever they try to bust
Shoulder to shoulder with the revolutionatires we trust
Never dare to care about those who never cared about us
It’s the moment of our truth against their lust
When we tried to speak they did not want to discuss
Grabbed their anti-aircrafts and fired them at us.

UNTITLED – ANONYMOUS REVOLUTIONARY POET
What about those you tortured
Punishing freedom of speech like it’s murder
Trying to keep the revolution from going further
But there ain’t no stopping time by giving orders
There ain’t no stopping us from destroying your forces
Your supporters don’t realize that 42 years ain’t exactly short notice
It’s a rise up by the un-married and un-employed you left at their lowest
You’re the Pharoh and they’re the Moses
To Victory they are definitely the closest
So you can do magic and drop some hocus pocus
We guarantee it won’t take away our focus.

A tribute poem to Mo Nabbous, brave martyr of Libya, freedom, and truth:
Libya AlHurra…” Check check check…hello, can everyone hear me”
True dedication of one man’s effort
He was the eyes and ears in the land of the desert
Armed with not a machete or a gun
But with something to show what the tyrant has done.
So on goes with the uprising of red black and green
The likes of which they have not personally seen
To rid of this dictator so cruel and obscene
The shabab of today will never be green.
Our brave young and old battle every day
And proved the world of the Massacre’s way
That someone needs to stop his evil play
We are innocent civilians, Girdaffy go away.
With a true warrior’s boldness and filming might
He was showing the world the ugliness and the fright
That injustice and oppression were the Libyan’s plight
And true freedom to each is God’s given right.
Driving! A phone at hand, the camera in the other
He was skilled, multitasking and seemed under cover
Went out with his tools to prove the lies and the horror
Dying’s not the problem but losing the battle means more slaughter.
Since the beginning we followed the Revolution
You showed more than just loyalist’s aggression
Through your live stream and communication
You showed, the epitome of Courage lies in the hearts of True Libyans.
Response from the outside world was slow to react
On that faithful day when they planned to attack
The heavy bombardment was heard in that last track
Our Mo shaheed and others, Allah took them back.
Last thoughts to say about our brave courageous soldier
Today, news of truth of which you were the Founder
You left a legacy like the Lion of the dessert
The heart of Mo, a True Libyan Freedom Fighter.
By Revolutionary Me…March 19, 2011
The Freedom Fighters are willing to lose their lives for
FREEDOM of speech,
Freedom from oppression, suppression, aggression, abomination, siege, cruelty, inhumanity, barbarity, wickedness, evilness…just to name a few.
And many died and many are still…until
Shaheed Allah,
Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi rajioon.
Libya Al Hurra….inshaAllah
The end
Revolutionary ME
Remember me with laughter
As I leave along the tide
Remember our days together
As the waves come back to you
Remember our promises to keep
As the sun rises to a new day
Remember our spoken words
As the raindrops touch your face
Remember our last goodbye
As the roaring thunder cries
Remember that as we stood united
Our voices echoed loudly
And as the ship sails off to sea

Four months into the NATO air campaign, Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi is still in power, protected by loyalists and mercenaries. Americans are weary of war, and patience in Europe is also wearing thin. But NATO must not give up.

For most of Col Muammar Gaddafi’s decades in power, foreign journalists had been blocked from entering Libya.
But now, amid the months of conflict, the country’s story is being broadcast to the world.
Among those capturing the powerful images is photographer Sebastian Meyer who covered the early days of the conflict and has plans of returning.
